First Communion Rehearsals and Celebrations

This is a reminder for families with a child in the First Sacrament program of the upcoming rehearsals and First Communion masses.  The child who will be celebrating First Communion and at least one parent MUST attend the rehearsal that corresponds to the child's scheduled First Communion mass.  Attendance at this rehearsal is critical to ensure that each child is prepared for what is expected of him or her at mass and that each mass runs smoothly.  Thank-you for making this a priority!

Please arrive to the rehearsal 15 minutes early to allow time to check in and find assigned seats.  Each rehearsal will begin promptly at 6:30, and every attempt will be made to end as close to 7:30 as possible.

As a reminder, we will be collecting healthy, non-perishable, individually wrapped snacks for Thomasboro Elementary School and money (amount of your choice) to help offset the cost of the First Communion flowers.  Thank-you in advance for your contributions!

Rehearsal Schedule:

May 7th at 11:00 mass --- Tuesday, May 3rd at 6:30 pm

May 7th at 2:00 mass --- Thursday, May 5th at 6:30 pm

May 14th at 11:00 mass --- Thursday, May 12th at 6:30 pm

First Communion Retreat

Regarding the First Communion retreat:

Please plan to attend the retreat that you indicated as your first choice on the green sheet that was turned in back in January.  Do not change your date without checking with Ms. Ellen first.  Thanks!

First Communion Retreat

This is a reminder for families with a child in the First Sacrament program of the upcoming First Communion retreat.  At least one parent and the child who will be celebrating First Communion MUST attend ONE of these MANDATORY retreats.  Please arrive at the worship space of church 15 minutes early to allow time for check-in.  There will be no make-up dates offered for this retreat. Failure to attend one of these retreats will jeopardize you child's placement in the First Sacrament program.

Please bring at least three rectangular pieces of felt (child's choice of color) and a sharp scissors with you to the retreat.

Also, we have First Communion Bibles available for purchase this year.  They would make a great gift for your child.  We will have samples for view at the retreat.  If you are interested in doing so, you may purchase one or more at the retreat, and we will also have them available during Faith Formation any time before the First Communion masses.  The price is $15.00.  You may pay with cash or check made out to St. Luke.

Retreat Dates and Times:

Thursday, February 25th  4:30-6:00

First Communion Updates

This is for families with a child in the First Sacrament program.  The poster with the children's pictures will be assembled and hung next week.  If you have not turned in a picture of the child who will be celebrating First Communion,  Please do so ASAP.  You can put it in the box on the counter outside the Faith Formation office when you come to mass this weekend or at the very latest when you come to class next week.  Please make sure that the child's full name is written on the back of the picture.

The deadline for turning in the sheets with your retreat and mass date choices has passed.  Guided by the Holy Spirit, there is a fairly even split of numbers between the three masses.  You can now be confident that the date and time you indicated as your first choice for your child's First Communion mass will be your actual date and time.  The mass lists will be posted on the bulletin board in the Faith Formation hallway by later on next week.
